- Vegetable oil
How to make it
- Fill the glass one-third full of oil. Add the same amounts of water and finally, honey.
- Leave the liquids to settle for a few minutes – they should form layers in the opposite order to how they were poured into the glass.
- Drop the cork into the glass. What happens? Then drop the grape in – what happens now?
The liquids form layers because they do not mix together, and also have different densities. Honey is the most dense, then water, then oil. The objects have different densities, so they float on different liquids.
